Cover art about Alzheimer’s disease published in Neuron

Synapse degeneration underlies memory loss in Alzheimer’s disease (AD). The cover image depicts a tree of neurons with branches that have lost their potential for blooming, symbolizing the impairment of synaptic plasticity and memory in AD. The sparrows resting on the branches represent the pathogenesis caused by acetylated tau.

Published in April 2016 in Neuron, this cover was created for the laboratory of Li Gan.
